BASE CAMP

is the solution that will allow you to stay at our base camp and from here set off on your adventures in the area.

Why Shangri-La?

Our base camp is located in the garden of one of the first villas built in Costa Rei. The first owner was a young Belgian born in Beijing, China, who evidently influenced by Asian culture and entranced by the earthly paradise he found on a totally virgin and uninhabited coast, as this one was before the 1970s, wanted to call it Shangri-La.

Shangri-La is a fictional place described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by James Hilton.

The idea came to James Hilton from reading the memoirs of the Jesuits who had stayed in Tibet and who had become aware of the traditions linked to the Kalachakra, a tantra in which a mythical kingdom of Shambhala is described.

In Hilton's novel we talk about a place enclosed in the western end of the Himalayas where you can see wonderful landscapes, and where time has almost stopped, in an environment of peace and tranquility.

The success of this novel in the society of the time gave rise to the myth: so dreamers, adventurers and explorers tried to find this lost paradise.

Shangri-La therefore remains the symbol of something we all aspire to: having a place of peace and beauty to reach, internal before geographical.

We like dynamic people who want to live an experience in nature with us, but also independently. We offer you a comfortable starting base for your adventures with all comforts.
